End of ACTF

...and it's over! We have sucessfully presented diventare at the Region 1 American College Theatre Festival at the University of New Hampshire in Durham NH. And it was an absolutely EXHAUSTING 2 days. We lucked out, considering that we loaded in and teched the day before the show (so the actors had a chance to rest etc) and we also got a full tech run in. On Friday, we had 2 showings of our show, due to the small house size (170 seats). Seconds after the final BO, the audience was on their feet---our second show was sold-out with a waiting list of 50+ people! It was a fantastic reception--and well worth all the work! We are waiting to hear about advancing (that is announced tonight), but having been dubbed "the children of Poseidon" by an effusive audience member, I think that we are all satisfied regardless of what is decided tonight!

On a word of thanks, the host crew and staff at UNH were the most helpful, knowledgeable and gracious hosts that we have encountered over the last few years--cheers to them!

Diventare at ACTF

hello friends--it's time to take Diventare to ACTF! I leave today for the design competition, and the rest of the team will join me on Thursday/Friday to mount the show. If you haven't seen pictures, check them out HERE .

Moving this show to UNH has been quite a challenge so far--due mostly to the extreme difference in layout (proscenium to 3/4 (almost round) thrust) and also to the limitations of the rep plot (no refocus and only 7 additional circuits. To put it simply, this show doesn't travel easily without a complete redesign.

...which is what I have done. Thanks to the rovers, we have a really interesting and provocative show (I think) and I'm going to sing eternal praises to whomever invented offline editors for DOS boards. Everything is programmed! Now, if I can only get my exhibit board all finished...

notebooks: what not to do

internships! they are looming--and the summer/next fall is approaching fast. in my search to find the perfect place to park myself for the next year, i came across Playhouse on the Square in Memphis, TN. It just might be perfect for me. Interestingly, I remembered that about a year and a half ago I ended up sitting next to the guy who runs the internship program there (or at least did at the time) and he gave me his info and said to give him a call if I was interested. and NOW--when I am interested--I cant find the notebook I wrote it down in! I think he's the same guy who is listed now, but what if he's not? This is why I should become more organized. Now, I need to figure out the best way to proceed--bc I think that this place might be the right place for me.
